  No more excuses for not Blogging!

  Since my first blog post at the end of July we have had contact from a prospective business partner in Rwanda, two Dutch students asking to join us on a work placement and a firm enquiry for work from a company based in United States. All proof that establishing ourselves on global networking sites is increasing our global exposure from our base here in Cambridge, UK and that is great news.
  
  In that first blog post I also said that “many companies begin a blog page in a flurry of activity that dwindles over months before ultimately dying”. Well the bad news is that the last blog post was uploaded on our site over a month ago now and although it’s not dead, our page has been on its last legs for a little while now! I always felt it would be a challenge to maintain our initial momentum in terms of social media coverage as our level of work rose and unfortunately that is exactly what has happened!

  Social Media sceptic to supporter in 4 weeks

  In the final days before we launched VirtualStudio.TV I took it upon myself to be in charge of our social media strategy. At that time this “strategy” was referred to as “the twitter and blogging stuff” and felt more like a box that had to be ticked rather than something that had any significant long term benefit to our new business.
  
  I realised after typing into Google “how to master social media” that there are no golden rules to success. Most people seem to appreciate that social media can offer big benefits to organisations. Due to its dynamic and fast changing nature there appear to be no established principles yet and I don’t think there ever will be. I think that is one of the things I like the most about it.
