  • With the new and improved iPad 2 released in March of this year, as of June 2011, 28.73 million units have been sold. With these quite extraordinary facts and figures, and taking into account that Apple has sold more than any other PC related tablet products, it is difficult to imagine that any other company could compete with Apple and the iPad in the tablet market…until this week when Amazon unveiled the new Kindle Fire.

After Amazon’s success with the Kindle in the e-reader market, they clearly see a potential to transfer their Kindle users to more advanced tablet products which will give them a more colourful way of reading books, listening to music and watching movies. Amazon aren’t just planning to release one new model, they intend to release four new models with one version with 3G connectivity. These include the Kindle Classic, Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G and the Kindle Fire...

  • Following the launch of YouTube in 2005 there has been an explosion in the growth of web videos around the world and in the next 24 hours more than 3 billion videos will be watched on that site alone!

We love producing Internet Videos andVirtual Events for our clients and really enjoy working in an industry where there is such a huge range of companies offering different creative video solutions for people all over the world.

There are thousands of different uses for online video but I have listed below my 5 reasons why you need to have videos on your website.

    1. You want to communicate a lot of information in a few seconds; what your products, or services look like and the kind of people you are. All of this can be done in a punchy 60 second video clip, rather than more than 200 words of text. Due to the huge increase in email traffic and squeeze on available time in recent years, people today and in the future are far more likely to take the time to view a video than read a page of text...

  • When we meet up and talk to people about VirtualStudio.TV they often ask us exactly how our technology works. The good news is that althought it might look quite complicated, it's really very simple, especially when you see it live!

So to give you an idea of what VirtualStudio.TV is like and how we make our videos, we've created the below video to show you the cool production technology we get to use every day.

We have an open door policy at the studio so if you're in the Cambridge area or passing through and fancy a look around, please just give us a call and we will be very happy to show you the studio.

Alternatively, if this video prompts any questions, please do give us a call on 01223 520968, we'd love to hear from you!

  • We have teamed up with Star Radio in Cambridge to produce free videos for their “Charity of the Month” winners. As I described in my last post, we are really keen to make a positive contribution to the local community and we were delighted to hear that a wide range of local charities wanted to create a video with us.

Please have a look through them in this post and spread the word to help support charities in the Cambridge area.

  • Our studio is literally one minutes walk from Star Radio. A few weeks ago when Mark Peters popped in for a chat we asked him if the Star Radio Charity of the Month winners would be interested in coming to our studio to record a free video highlighting their cause and explaining to people how they can get involved. We are delighted to announce that the reaction to that question has been a resounding “yes” and that next Monday we are going to welcome 8 charities to visit our studio to film their free videos!

  • We run Leadership Communication Workshops all over the world, and last week, delegates attending our Workshop in Seattle from one of the world’s biggest IT companies told me that they are routinely producing short videos for internal communication bulletins, training programmes and marketing case studies. The scale of their video production is jaw dropping. Five years ago external production companies were producing 5 videos a year for them, today they are producing 5 videos a day for themselves!

The big question is why has this growth been so explosive and is it set to continue? The answers are threefold:-

  • Fran Williamson is a six time Paralympic Swimming medallist who is the current 50m Backstroke World Champion. She has lived in Cambridge for the last 18 years and is currently training for the upcoming London 2012 Paralympics where she is hoping to add to her already extensive medal haul that also includes 12 World Championship Medals!

I have been lucky enough to work with the Team GB Paralympic Rowing Team for the last few years and am really looking forward to supporting our Paralympian’s on home soil and to see if we can improve on the fantastic 102 medals we won in Beijing 4 years ago.

As excitement for the Olympics builds I am sure the country is going to get behind all our athletes and I can’t wait for the games to get started! Luckily, there is an early opportunity to support Fran’s Olympic efforts long before she competes in the 50m & 100m Freestyle in the Olympics Park Aquatics Centre in September.

Earlier this month she began the “Fran for the Flame” campaign to secure nominations to be a bearer of the Olympic Torch Relay, which passes through Cambridge on Saturday 7th July 2012.

Fran is seeking to secure as many nominations as possible from the people of Cambridgeshire. As a two time Paralympian it is crazy she has to enter a ballot with joe public to be in with a chance of carrying the flame, but if she secures enough online votes her dream of carrying the flame though her home city will become a reality!

Our videos help trees in the UK

12th November 2010 by Simon Malone 1 comments

From the outset of VirtualStudio.TV we have all made the effort to right some of our environmental wrongs of the past and be as “green” as possible. Our video production processes vastly reduce the need for transporting equipment and people as all videos are shot in our studio in Cambridge. Also we have made a wide range of decisions to make our organisation more environmentally sound. From the small things such as using energy saving bulbs in the office and recycling our waste, to more significant things contributions such as purchasing new low energy LED studio lights at greater cost than standard lights, we are making a real effort. Like most things in life, we have found that sustainable behaviour is a habit that once learnt is pretty easy to work with.
